Physical Therapy
Our physical therapy team works toward specific goals of achieving the resident’s highest functional level of independence. Physical therapy focuses on the identification and rehabilitation of individuals with physical impairment and pain, as well as future injury prevention. Following the evaluation, our experienced physical therapists develop an individualized treatment program. The goal is to achieve safety in a variety of areas.
Areas of treatment focus may include:
- Increase strength and mobility in the body and lower extremities
- Increase motor control for a resident who has suffered a stroke
- Improve coordination, balance and the ability to walk following a fracture
- Improve overall strength conditioning, range of motion and endurance
- Pain management
- Teaching proper body mechanics to prevent injury
- Promoting safety awareness for the well being of the resident
Occupational Therapy
Our professional occupational therapists use task-directed activities in the treatment of our residents whose functional abilities, daily activities and independence have been impaired by illness, injury or aging.
Occupational therapy assists our residents in adapting to their social and physical environment by mastering tasks essential for daily living. Our occupational therapists may work with residents who have debilitating arthritic conditions or those with difficulty bathing, dressing and other activities of daily living. They assist residents with impaired vision and/or hearing to function well in their environment.
Areas of treatment may include:
- Functional independence: eating, bathing, toileting, homemaking, cooking, etc.
- Maintenance of wellness: dressing and grooming
- Prevention of further disability: home assessments and modifications, adaptive equipment
- Increasing safety awareness
Speech Therapy
Our speech therapists provide a range of interventions to assess and help restore abilities in the areas of communication, swallowing and cognition. Treatment programs are designed to help residents affected by stroke, brain injury, dementia, and other neurological disorders. Our professionals also work with residents suffering from hearing impairment, respiratory illnesses, and complex medical conditions.
Areas of treatment focus may include:
- Improving speech and voice clarity
- Increasing comprehension and verbal expression
- Improving chewing and swallowing ability
- Maximizing cognitive language skills: memory, problem-solving, and abstract reasoning
- Resident and family/caregiver education and training for managing ongoing difficulties with communication, cognition, and swallowing
Neurological Rehabilitation
Our Neurological Rehabilitation program specializes in treating patients with acute neurological impairments such as: stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, or neurologic disorders such as Guillain-Barre, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s Disease and Lou Gehrig’s Disease also known as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). The physical, occupational and speech therapists work as a team to achieve improved function by stimulating neural connections and strengthening muscles weakened by nerve damage.
Areas of treatment focus may include:
- Fall prevention and balance training
- Cognitive rehabilitation
- Swallowing therapy to return to a safe oral diet
- Manual therapy for the normalizing tone of spastic or flaccid musculature
- Electrical stimulation, TENS, ultrasound for muscle strengthening, and pain management
- Function skills retraining for activities of daily living including eating, bathing, toileting, dressing, standing and walking
Orthopedic Rehabilitation
Our facility treats individuals that suffer from orthopedic and musculoskeletal debilitating conditions, as well as work-related injuries. In order to strengthen the health of those in orthopedic care, our team of professional therapists and physicians implement a wide range of therapies.
Therapies used to correct postural disorders include manual therapy and soft-tissue mobilization. Our staff works to address physical restrictions and to best treat pain. A hallmark of our blended orthopedic care is the addition of therapeutic exercise and providing easy to understand educational resources.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program is for those who have recently had angina, angioplasty, heart attack, valve repair/replacement, heart transplant, stent placement or coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Therapy will work to safely strengthen the heart and improve individual fitness levels.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is a program used for those with chronic lung diseases such as COPD, emphysema, and chronic bronchitis. This program is designed to restore patients to their highest functional capacity. Pulmonary Rehabilitation is aimed to improve quality of life.
Areas of focus are:
- Decreasing respiratory symptoms and complications
- Encouraging self-management and control over daily functioning
- Improving physical conditioning and exercise performance
- Improving emotional well-being
